No, South Dakota requires any entity in a lawsuit to be represented by an attorney. Self representation can result in your business having default judgment entered against it.

How long do I have to respond to a lawsuit?

If you are sued, you must respond to the pleadings or else default judgment can be entered against you. It is important that you consult with an attorney immediately if you are, or are about to be, a party to a lawsuit.

When is my lawsuit too large for small claims court?

If your lawsuit is valued at over $12,000.00 small claims court is no longer the appropriate forum and it belongs in circuit court.

What is the statute of limitations for a breach of contract?

In South Dakota you have four years to bring a cause of action for a breach of contract.
